Alicia D. Smith

​​Alicia is an executive director and a proud mother of two awesome boys Walter (12) and Alonzo (8), running for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, At-Large.

She was raised by a strong and spirited single mom in public housing. She knows firsthand the power of recreation, family, and that parks are key to our community's success. Alicia knows bringing people together to fight for solutions can be truly transformative, not just for ourselves but for our communities.

Alicia is involved in youth mentorship, food justice, economic and housing justice, community policing, negotiating, and fighting for equality of all people. She is driven by service and wants to put her skills and experience to use for the public good. Minneapolis deserves better neighborhood parks and better recreational options for every resident including those who may not be traditionally housed. She is running to make sure community voices will be heard and included when creating policy solutions that will work for us all.
