Chanell graduated from Cleveland State University in 2011 with a Bachelors in criminology and a Masters in Social Work in 2015. As an independently licensed social worker for the VA Medical Center, she provides advocacy, education and crisis intervention within the veteran community.

Chanell was appointed to city council and is honored to serve South Euclid. She currently chairs the Safety Committee and serves on the Legislative and Zoning and Planning Committee. In her work she has advocated for the rights of residents, passing pay to stay legislation to protect renters and introducing resolutions recognizing Pride month and Juneteenth. Chanell serves on several boards including: President of the Belgreen community group, Community partnership on aging diversity committee, Trustee for the community partnership on aging and political action committee for the Cleveland NAACP.

Chanell’s deep commitment to public service dates back almost 15 years. She has worked as a volunteer with the South Euclid Humane society, the Cleveland food bank and a mentor with College Now. Believing that leadership is action not position, she worked to organize the Belgreen community group within Ward 1 and developed the monthly community newsletter.

Chanell is the proud mother of two, the eldest of fifteen and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
