2022 Endorsement
When Joe was just three-years-old, his family immigrated from Uruguay to Rockville, Maryland. Now he’s running for the Maryland House of Delegates to serve the community that has given him so much. Joe’s community involvement began early, both as a leader and as a progressive political activist.
In 2015, Joe was nominated and confirmed by the Governor of Maryland to serve as a member of the Maryland Youth Advisory Council. Joe has organized in support of the Blueprint For Maryland’s Future, worked to advance commonsense gun violence prevention measures, and has fought to support underserved communities in Montgomery County. Joe has worked for and learned from respected leaders including Secretary Cory Booker, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
During COVID-19, Joe volunteered to support organizations and leaders working on the frontlines to help Gaithersburg and Rockville recover from the pandemic, and started a non-profit to help children of essential workers stay on track during remote learning. Joe is completing a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard University where his studies have focused on climate action, securing human rights, and strengthening our democratic institutions.
