Shawn Livingston

Shawn grew up in a home surrounded by farms and forests a few miles from District 7 of Anne Arundel County. He was raised by two teachers that always kept the needs of their community before themselves. His mother taught him to ask one simple question wherever he went: “How can we help?” After a near death experience in college, those words became a guide for the direction of Shawn’s life. Through volunteering, working at a church, serving at the family business and working at a school, Shawn strives to shape his life in a way that puts people first.

Shawn enjoys supporting teachers and their technology at a school in Annapolis and is raising his 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter with his wife Rachel who is a nurse. Shawn has served on the board of his local Democratic Club that works to help get progressive Democratic candidates elected and has been active with Progressive Maryland to fight for a public financing option for local elections. Shawn has been vocal on issues related to police reform, the environment and economic opportunity for all.

Shawn has already spent months getting to know the people of his community and is looking forward to supporting legislation that takes care of the most vulnerable, bolsters the education system and protects the environment. In his free time Shawn enjoys playing with his kids, going for runs and keeping up with national and international news.
