Cassandra Johnson

Cassandra is running for re-election as Champaign County Treasurer and ex-officio Collector. Her unique set of skills acquired while working in the United States Air Force at home and abroad, and hermy innate desire to serve the people of my community, drove Champaign County to elect her the County Treasurer in 2020.

While in office, she has worked to implement changes to make the Treasurer's office work better for Champaign County. Over the past year, her team addressed the backlog of the 2019 and 2020 audits. They have worked to ensure that everyone improved proficiency and training in the new collection software. They have provided more timely distributions to the taxing bodies (specifically to the schools) and created timelines to ensure they are on track to improve collecting and disbursing funds. Additionally, the office has found ways to help taxing bodies to correct errors, which nearly resulted in roughly $1 million in additional taxes paid by 900+ residents within Champaign County. These are just a few of the actions we've taken but Cassandra has plans to only get better.
