Katie has the experience and servant approach needed on the school board. Katie has worked as a pre-K teacher and sees the importance of early childhood literacy. She will prioritize early childhood literacy initiatives and creating safe schools. Katie sees that having enough counselors, social workers, and other support workers in schools will help teachers and add a layer of safety for students.
Raised by an educator, Katie watched her mom work far more hours than was expected of her and saw the impact educational opportunities have on the community. She wants to ensure that her children and all children in Hamilton County schools have great opportunities. She is a volunteer teacher at Christ United Methodist Church, an engaged parent on the PTO, and community rec coach.
