Brianna Coston
2022 Endorsement
The La Mesa-Spring Valley District holds a special place in Brianna’s heart. She and her siblings grew up in La Mesa and are products of local schools, and her mother works as a special education teacher.
Brianna is running for school board because the district can do better. The learning environment can be more conducive to learning, and educators need to be better equipped and supported in the classroom. Working parents and underserved communities can be better supported by the district too. Through her LGBTQIA+ siblings, Brianna has witnessed the school district fail to support and advocate for LGBTQIA students. If elected, she will promote policies to ensure all students feel safe at school.
In 2021, Brianna was appointed to the La Mesa Planning Commission. She is active in the community, volunteering as a mentor for an after school program and previously tutoring math students. Brianna was the first student from Steele Canyon High School to attend MIT, where she received a bachelor’s degree in architecture. She received a master’s degree in urban planning from USC.
