Deyanira Nevarez Martinez

Deyanira Nevarez Martinez is a housing scholar, educator, and mother who is running for Lansing City Council in Ward 2. Growing up working-class, she saw how strong labor protections, safe housing, and well-funded public schools can transform a family’s future. That experience drives her commitment to ensuring every Lansing resident has the same chance to thrive. She has a Ph.D. in Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy, teaches at MSU, and is on the Lansing School District Board of Education.
