As the son of a volunteer firefighter and a career civil servant, public service has always been part of who John is. After 9/11, John volunteered to join the Air Force and served eight years as an intelligence officer (Captain), including service in Afghanistan. He used his GI Bill benefits to earn a JD and MBA from Stanford University and is now an attorney working to develop new renewable energy projects. John is running to join the Tiburon Fire Protection District Board to protect the community for future generations. Climate change is increasing the risk of wildfires each year, and there is more that can be done to protect homes and the community. John is committed to improving emergency preparedness by using best practices from across the country, being a responsible steward of taxpayer money, and representing the community's values (including diversity and sustainability). John is grateful to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by Marin Professional Firefighters (IAFF Local 1775), the Marin County Democratic Party, and the North Bay Labor Council (AFL-CIO).
