Julia, a native of Colorado with deep roots in Thornton, is a passionate advocate for civic engagement. She earned degrees in news broadcasting and political science from the University of Colorado Boulder and has over a decade of professional experience in marketing and communications, having worked in government, healthcare, technology, startups, and nonprofits. In 2016, Julia and her husband purchased their home in Thornton with the help of a first-time homebuyer grant program. Julia also served as Chair of the Adams County Young Democrats, where she revitalized the chapter and increased engagement through outreach, advocacy, and communications.
In 2019, Julia won a seat on the Thornton City Council with 65% of the vote and increased turnout by 8%. Over the last four years, she has been a fierce advocate for breaking down barriers, building a city that prioritizes listening to residents, and empowering people to take charge. As mayor, Julia's vision for Thornton is to create a strong economy that supports workers and small businesses, design policies for smart growth and affordable housing, ensure safe and clean neighborhoods, fight for accessible and reliable transportation, enhance community services that promote diversity, and preserve the environment while protecting the health and safety of residents.
