Sam Melden

Sam has a background in the nonprofit sector, where he worked on issues such as food insecurity, healthcare, and disability rights. In his first term on City Council, he collaborated with his colleagues to pass Toledo's 1% for the Environment, the first program of its kind in the country. This program allocates 1% of the capital budget to combat climate change and improve the health of Lake Erie. Sam is now running for City Council District 5 to continue advocating for the environment, pedestrian-friendly streets, and economic development that benefits everyone.
