2023 Endorsement

Ahmed is a community leader and former refugee from Chad, Africa, who resettled in Lancaster, PA with his family in 1997. Since then, he has devoted his life to advancing the city and promoting a welcoming environment for all. As a volunteer community organizer and refugee leader, Ahmed was appointed to Lancaster City Council to fill a vacancy, becoming the first former refugee to serve in that capacity. He is currently running for a full term in a special election. Ahmed is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, and to making sure that all members of the Lancaster community have a voice. As a council member, he has worked to increase access to affordable housing, to support small businesses, and to advocate for the needs of underserved communities. If elected to a full term, Ahmed will continue to prioritize the needs of all residents and work to build a brighter future for Lancaster.
