Born to a firefighter and a nurse, Jonathan was raised with a strong sense of public service and a determination to tackle challenges head-on. After graduating from Luther College, Jonathan pursued a career in education, becoming a dedicated public school teacher for the past decade.

Inspired by the diversity and drive of the Waterloo community, Jonathan decided to make Waterloo their home in 2015. Alongside his amazing wife, he is incredibly grateful to be raising their two smart and lovely daughters in Waterloo.

In 2019, Jonathan ran for City Council with a clear vision to build a bright future for Waterloo. And he has delivered. Over the past four years, Waterloo has embraced ambitious goals to address the urgent climate crisis. Jonathan has played a pivotal role in implementing policies that provide families with greater access to quality child care. Moreover, they have championed investments in 21st century infrastructure, including the establishment of a public utility broadband network.

Furthermore, Jonathan has been a vocal advocate for creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all residents. Their leadership in this area has been instrumental in ensuring that Waterloo remains a place where everyone feels valued and supported.

Proud of their accomplishments thus far, Jonathan is committed to continuing their work over the next four years. With a focus on progress and collaboration, they will strive to drive positive change, improve the quality of life for residents, and secure a prosperous future for Waterloo.
