2024 Endorsement
Assemblymember Bores is an accomplished public servant representing the 73rd Assembly District, which covers the Upper East Side of Manhattan down to Murray Hill. As the first Democrat elected in New York with a computer science background, he brings a unique perspective and expertise to the table.
Prior to entering politics, Alex worked in government technology, collaborating with the Department of Justice to combat violent crimes in New York City. He also played a pivotal role in developing software for local governments' Covid relief programs, benefiting 50,000 families by ensuring their access to essential utilities. Additionally, he spearheaded successful campaigns that secured severance pay for terminated employees, advocated for common-sense rent regulations, and initiated reforms in government procurement processes.
Having grown up in the district, Alex is intimately familiar with the community and its needs. He attended P.S. 6, Wagner, and Hunter High School, and went on to earn an honors degree from Cornell University. He furthered his education by completing a master's program in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. However, Alex acknowledges that his most valuable lessons were learned early on, as he stood alongside his father on the picket line at the age of eight, witnessing the fight for improved healthcare through his father's union.
In his first term as Assemblymember, Alex has made remarkable strides in advancing the well-being of workers, enhancing public safety, and combating annoying spam telemarketing calls. His legislative endeavors have centered around crucial issues such as artificial intelligence, safeguarding democracy, and protecting New Yorkers from fraudulent schemes. With his dedication and expertise, Assemblymember Alex Bores continues to work tirelessly to better the lives of his constituents and create a brighter future for all.
