Venton is a dedicated State Representative who proudly serves House District 100 in the Texas Legislature. Born and raised in his district, he brings a strong connection and understanding of the community he represents.
Throughout his career, Jones has been passionate about fostering new leadership within political and non-profit sectors, particularly among Black, Brown, and LGBTQ communities. As an openly Black gay lawmaker living with HIV, he has become a respected and influential figure in the Texas House of Representatives. In recognition of his contributions, he has received notable accolades such as the LGBTQ+ Freshman of the Year award and has established himself as a valuable member of various caucuses, including the LGBTQ+ Caucus, Texas Legislative Black Caucus, House Democratic Caucus, Aggie Caucus, Environmental and Energy Caucus, and the Legislative Study Group.
Venton is dedicated to his role as a servant leader and is committed to advocating for the needs and interests of his community, both in Austin and in Dallas. With a strong focus on continuing to show up for his constituents, he strives to make a positive impact and create meaningful change through his work in the legislature.
