Lindsay Powell

Lindsay is a passionate advocate for social justice and addressing inequality. With a background in progressive causes and experience working for elected officials such as Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Hakeem Jeffries, Lindsay has dedicated her career to making a positive impact in her community.

Lindsay's commitment to public service led her to the City of Pittsburgh, where she oversaw legislation and policy for city departments. During her time there, she played a key role in various programs that have had a significant impact on the community. Notable accomplishments include the creation of the first citywide digital equity initiative, the expansion of the free meal program during the pandemic, and the implementation of the Avenues of Hope initiative, which revitalizes city main streets through small business activation.

In addition to her work in Pittsburgh, Lindsay is also a proud recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. This prestigious opportunity took her to Malaysia, where she taught English in rural high schools and further expanded her global perspective.

Coming from a working class background, Lindsay understands firsthand the challenges of making ends meet despite working hard every day. It is this understanding that fuels her belief that everyone deserves safe and dignified housing, a strong and equitable economy, and community assets such as walkable green spaces, well-resourced recreation centers, and safe infrastructure.
