Travis is a dedicated public servant seeking re-election to the Ann Arbor City Council. Since his election in 2020, Travis has been committed to enhancing city services, advancing housing and climate goals, improving energy reliability, and promoting progressive policies that make Ann Arbor a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Notably, Travis was chosen by his colleagues in 2022 to serve as the first openly-gay Mayor Pro Tem in over two decades, an important milestone for the diverse City Council.

Throughout his first term, Travis has been a strong advocate for working families. He has fought for reforms in the city's procurement process to ensure fair wages, benefits, environmental protections, and workplace safety standards are prioritized. Travis has also been instrumental in championing tenant rights, leading the effort to establish Michigan's pioneering Renters Commission and sponsoring legislation that grants tenants the right to renew their leases and protects them from unjust evictions. Additionally, he is actively working to end predatory leasing practices and eliminate hidden fees to create a more transparent rental market.

Travis has been at the forefront of promoting human rights in Ann Arbor. He successfully spearheaded an amendment to the city's non-discrimination ordinance, incorporating the Crown Act and prohibiting race-based hair discrimination. Furthermore, Travis co-sponsored a groundbreaking ordinance that ensures free menstrual products in all public restrooms and successfully advocated for the ban on anti-LGBTQ conversion therapy.
