Mo Jenkins

State House, District 139, Houston, TX

2024 Endorsement

Mo, a proud Texas native and a dedicated advocate for social justice and community empowerment, is a prominent figure in the field. Currently serving as the Committee Director for the House Corrections Committee, she has played a crucial role in achieving legislative victories, such as the defeat of school vouchers and the establishment of the Open Burn Pits Registry Fund. Mo's personal journey is one of overcoming adversity, having experienced the loss of her mother at a young age and facing homelessness.

However, her resilience and determination have propelled her forward. Despite navigating the foster care system, she managed to earn an associate degree in high school and a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Mo has made significant contributions in various areas, including being a champion for public education, restoring the right to choose, advocating for environmental justice, and challenging Republican extremism. If elected, she would not only become one of the youngest individuals to hold a seat in the State Legislature but also the first transgender woman to be elected in Texas.
