Carrie Rheingans

Carrie is a respected State Representative who brings a wealth of expertise in health policy, education, and community organizing to her role. With a focus on fostering Healthy People, Healthy Families, and Healthy Communities, Carrie is dedicated to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive to their fullest potential.

During her first term, Rep. Rheingans championed several important bills that addressed critical issues. She tackled workforce challenges in the health profession, advocated for the needs of Indigenous Michiganders, and advocated for universal, publicly-funded health care coverage for all residents of Michigan. Additionally, Carrie has been a vocal advocate for addressing the various aspects of the opioid crisis and ensuring that policies are shaped by those directly affected by this crisis. She is also passionate about safeguarding essential health care services, including abortion and gender-affirming care.

Hailing from a small town in Michigan, and having resided in Ann Arbor for over two decades, Carrie has a deep understanding of the diverse issues that impact her district. As a Millennial parent, she has firsthand experience with the challenges of managing finances in the face of high housing costs, student loans, and childcare expenses. This personal perspective enables her to better advocate for policies that address the concerns of families and individuals in her district.

In addition to her role as a State Representative, Carrie also serves as a board member for Communities Joined in Action, a national organization devoted to supporting community leaders and organizations in their efforts to promote health equity and reduce disparities.
