Samantha Sencer-Mura

Samantha is a dedicated educator, working mom, community leader, and State Representative for district 63A in South Minneapolis. With a passion for educational justice, she has tirelessly advocated for students of color throughout her career. As a product of Minneapolis public schools, Samantha personally experienced the disparities within the education system, driving her to make a difference.
Samantha's commitment to educational equality led her to work as an educator and eventually become the Executive Director at 826 MSP, an educational non-profit. Serving in this role from 2017 to 2022, she oversaw programs that provided free writing, publishing, and leadership opportunities to thousands of Twin Cities students. Her dedication and innovative approach significantly impacted the lives of these students.
In 2022, Samantha's passion for change propelled her to a new arena as she was elected to the Minnesota State House. Being part of the DFL trifecta, she played a key role in passing progressive policies that positively shaped the future of her constituents. Notably, Samantha led the development of the Ethnic Studies for all bill, which ensures that students across Minnesota have access to culturally relevant curriculum.
With her diverse background, Samantha brings a unique perspective and unwavering commitment to serving her community. Through her advocacy and leadership, she continues to champion the cause of educational justice and work towards a more equitable future for all students.
