Lori Saroya

Councilwoman Lori is a devoted community leader with a focus on transparency, community engagement, and strategic development. As the lone Democrat, first Muslim, and woman of color on a primarily MAGA city council, Lori is known for her courage and resilience in advocating for Blaine residents. Born to immigrant parents who arrived in the United States in the late 1960s, Lori moved from rural Iowa to Minnesota for her education at St. Catherine University in St. Paul and later earned her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. With almost 20 years of residency in Blaine, she and her husband are raising three children in the community. Lori, honored with the Governor’s Community Leadership Service Award, has served on the Blaine Charter Commission for 7 years, drawing from her 17-year nonprofit background and participation in various boards and commissions to contribute to the betterment of the city. Committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment in Blaine, Saroya strives to ensure that all individuals are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
