April is a sixth-generation Lynchburg, Virginia native, a first-generation college graduate, and a working mother of three. As a licensed clinical social worker, she currently serves as the Deputy Director of a local social service agency. In her role, she provides consultation, support, and supervision to various programs, including child welfare and adult services, with a strong focus on effective prevention to maintain family unity and community safety.

Dedicated to empowering families and breaking down barriers, April has led kinship efforts in her community and held multiple board and committee positions at local and state levels, including serving as Vice Chair of the Central Virginia Continuum of Care. She actively volunteers with organizations, advocating for public education by serving in leadership roles in Parent-Teacher Organizations and as a parent representative on the Academic Success Committee.

April champions investment in public education as a means to strengthen the community and reduce crime rates. She prioritizes properly funding public schools, supporting affordable housing, transparent tax relief, and proactive public safety measures. Committed to keeping Lynchburg progressing, April aims to contribute to the betterment of her lifelong community.
