Sarah Virgo

Sarah is a dedicated healthcare professional and elected Commissioner in Plainfield. With a passion for reproductive rights, affordable housing, sustainable infrastructures, and social justice, she aims to represent the diverse voices of residents and work towards a more vibrant and sustainable future. Sarah has presented over 260 progressive policies and 26 legislative resolutions, all of which have been adopted. She successfully argued against an antiquated regulation that discriminated against urban districts, benefiting not only Plainfield but districts across New Jersey. Sarah also implemented accountability standards for curriculum and lobbied for the establishment of a Chief Equity Officer. As Chair of the Strategic Planning process, she led the creation of Plainfield's first strategic plan in over a decade. Sarah believes her experience can contribute to the City Council and is running because she believes all residents deserve a better Plainfield.
