Derek Field

Derek Field, a Wisconsin native, started his journey on a family farm in Blue Mounds before pursuing higher education at UW-Madison. As a first-generation college student, Derek funded his education through a combination of multiple jobs, Pell Grants, and student loans. His passion for community advocacy led him to engage in issues surrounding college affordability and student voter registration. After obtaining a Master of Public Affairs degree from the La Follette School of Public Affairs, Derek returned to UW-Madison to apply his expertise in data and analytics roles for the past eight years. Additionally, he dedicates his time as a trained election official and is an active member of Madison's queer community.

Currently residing on Madison's East Side, Derek is committed to enhancing the safety and beauty of his neighborhood through policy change and community engagement. By advocating for District 3's needs in City Area Plans, advocating for investment in local neighborhoods, supporting initiatives to prevent gun violence, and pushing for greater accountability in property management, Derek aims to improve the quality of life for residents.
