Lillian Lingenfelter

Lillian is an experienced educator and community advocate currently seeking a seat in the Kansas Senate for District 17. With a strong focus on advancing well-funded public education and supporting rural communities, Lillian holds a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Emporia State University and a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. Continuing her education, she will pursue a graduate certificate in Education Finance from Georgetown University.
Recognized for her dedication to education, Lillian has received accolades such as the Kansas Horizon Award and nominations for the Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year award. She completed Teach for America’s Rural School Leadership Academy in 2022 to further enhance her service to rural districts. Lillian currently serves on the USD 253 School Board, including a term as President, and takes part in policy-making for the Kansas Association of School Boards. Additionally, she contributes as a Commissioner on the Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals for the Emporia-Lyon County Area and is a Fellow in the School Board Partners Advanced and Expert Fellowship.
Driven by her passion for education and rural community development, Lillian aspires to be a voice for progress and opportunity in Senate District 17.
