Adena Ishii

Adena is a seasoned community leader with a background in criminal justice and human trafficking issues. Drawing from her family's experience in Japanese-American concentration camps, Adena has a strong passion for justice and equity. She has a diverse educational background, having graduated from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and Santa Clara University School of Law. Adena's leadership roles include being the youngest and first person of color to serve as President of the Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville League of Women Voters. She played a key role in advocating for affordable housing through the passage of Measure O in 2018 and securing funding for homeless services with Measure P. Adena has also contributed to the community as a member of the Soda Tax Commission and co-chair of the Berkeley Unified School District Reparations Task Force. Currently working as an education and nonprofit consultant, Adena's priorities for Berkeley center around housing and homelessness, public safety, and infrastructure.
