Stephen Wooden

Kent County Commission, District 18, MI

2020 Endorsement

Stephen was elected to the Kent County Commission in 2018 (and endorsed by Run for Something), defeating the last Republican who held public office in Grand Rapids.

On the commission, he has been an advocate for equitable funding for core communities, supporting sustainable businesses, and prioritizing housing affordability. He helped secure $6 million towards homelessness prevention and safer sheltering during the COVID-19 pandemic and is working to ensure small business relief supports those most vulnerable in the community.

The hardship and uncertainty of 2020 has honed Stephen's focus on five core issues: supporting healthcare leaders in the battle against COVID; finding local solutions to make healthcare more affordable; ensuring Kent County's economic recovery is centered on every-day people; tackling institutional racism in government and the economy; and holding polluters big and small accountable.
