Joshua Hicks

Florida House, District 11, FL

2020 Endorsement

Joshua is native North Floridian, raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for him and his brothers. Because of her example, he's always understood the meaning of a hard day’s work. He went to public schools before graduating from Florida State University in 2007. Through his life experiences, he knows the power of a good, quality public education and why we need to do more to support working Floridians and their families.

Joshua has dedicated his career to giving back and making a difference in the non-profit sector. He's worked for the People for the American Way Foundation, the Service Employees International Union, the League of Conservation Voters, and currently with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. He's also served on the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence’s Young Professionals Board and is currently a member of the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus.

Joshua's career reflects his values. He believes we need to empower young people, support our workers, expand healthcare access, protect our environment and tackle climate change, fund public education, ensure equality for all, and keep our communities safe from gun violence. As State Representative, he's committed to placing the people first in District 11 and placing their needs above the corporate interests. Together, Joshua believes we can build up the First Coast community – and take on those who seek to divide us.
