Tanmay Shah

Cleveland City Council, Ward 12, OH

2025 Endorsement

Tanmay Shah is a union organizer, lawyer, and truck driver who wants every single Clevelander to have affordable housing, affordable groceries, and reliable city services. Tanmay is running for Cleveland City Council in Ward 12 as a proud immigrant from India who has called Northeast Ohio home for over 15 years. While working as a housing attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland (where he also helped organize a union) and representing low-income tenants fighting eviction in court, Shah saw first-hand the struggles many folks in our community face simply keeping a roof over their heads. Shah now focuses entirely on community organizing and works part-time as a truck driver to allow for that.

Every day, Shah talks to community members who know that the problems facing Cleveland are no secret: people and jobs have been leaving for decades. Instead of investing in housing, food access, and city services (such as composting or public transit) for working-class families, City Hall has prioritized stadiums, tax breaks, and luxury development for the wealthy. Instead, once in office, he will fight to make sure our city government can improve all Ward 12 residents' lives and help our neighborhoods prosper.
