Zakyia Goins-McCants

Zakyia is a seasoned educator with a deep passion for ensuring educational excellence and equity for all students. With over a decade of experience in the field, she has served as a classroom teacher, teacher-leader, coach, and data manager within District 8 schools. Zakyia is also recognized for her work in advocating for education policy changes at local, state, and national levels.

Currently, Zakyia uses her extensive expertise to support school leaders in utilizing data-driven strategies to improve student outcomes. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Master's degree in Administration & Supervision from Johns Hopkins University School of Education.

Committed to fostering safe and inclusive learning environments, expanding mental health resources, and enhancing academic success, Zakyia aims to establish Prince George’s County as a model for educational achievement among Black and Brown students. Her approach centers on collaboration among students, staff, families, and the community to drive positive change.

With a track record of leadership and a vision for educational advancement, Zakyia Goins-McCants stands as a strong candidate to represent District 8 on the Prince George's County Board of Education.
