Amber Kae Niuatoa

Amber Kae is a committed community advocate. She is a lifelong Oceansider, a Professor of Sociology, and a small business owner. After she and her neighbors successfully stopped an Amazon warehouse from moving into their community in 2021, they encouraged her to run for Oceanside City Council District 4. Amber Kae has served the community over her lifetime at organizations like Brother Benno’s, Girls Inc., and Amity Foundation. She is current and active in several local organizations, including the Sierra Club. She assigns Service Learning projects to her students to help them discover their power to make a difference.

Amber Kae was raised by a single mother and faced housing insecurity. She started her adult life in District 4 by securing affordable housing during college. These experiences make her passionate about housing solutions. As a mother of two, Amber Kae is dedicated to intergenerational community well-being. She aims to find comprehensive housing solutions for our houseless neighbors and low to middle-income residents, address infrastructure needs with innovative transportation solutions, and protect our coastline and open spaces through smart and sustainable development. Amber Kae loves Oceanside and is committed to ensuring it remains livable, accessible, and enjoyable for all residents.
