Avery Arbaugh

Avery, a dedicated community organizer, has a background in advocating for workers, tenants, and climate justice. Their experience includes serving as President of the Cal Berkeley Democrats, where they fought for fair contracts for UAW student workers and advocated for affordable housing. Avery also played a key role in drafting legislation for the Berkeley City Council to improve democratic access to policy-making.

As a Labor Commissioner for the City of Berkeley, Avery has been instrumental in monitoring the implementation of pro-worker policies and supporting workers facing unfair labor practices. With a focus on tenant rights, Avery's role as a member of the Berkeley Rent Board will involve advocating for strong rent control measures and protections for tenants in the city.

Avery is a firm believer in the need to address the affordability crisis for non-rent-controlled tenants and protect rent-controlled units in Berkeley.
