Arizona State Representative Lorena Austin, a 5th generation Arizonan, has a deep-rooted passion for advocacy and leadership within their district. Graduating with honors from Mesa Community College and Arizona State University, Rep. Austin holds a degree in U.S. & Mexican Regional Immigration Policy and Economy, accompanied by a certificate in Cross-Sector Leadership. Their diverse background spans across public, private, and non-profit sectors, including notable roles at Verizon's Innovative Learning Program and the Maricopa Community Colleges. Before assuming office, they dedicated time to student government advisement and community service, focusing on issues such as education and COVID-19 relief efforts. As the first Chicane, non-binary individual elected to a state legislature, Rep. Austin represents LD9 in West Mesa and Tempe, actively participating in the House Commerce and Appropriations committees. Their notable achievements include securing a $40 million investment in the Arizona Promise Program and advocating against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Rep.
