Rue Willis

Rue, an educator with experience in Newport News and Chesapeake Public Schools since 2024, is currently pursuing a degree in International Studies with minors in History & German at Old Dominion University. Their career goal is to become a full-time Social Studies & German Teacher. Committed to fostering safe and supportive learning environments, Rue is passionate about helping students succeed.

Running for the Chesapeake School Board, Rue seeks to advocate for policies that prioritize teaching de-escalation and problem-solving skills, enhancing mental health support, improving teacher compensation and working conditions, initiating mentorship programs for new educators, and expanding student tutoring options.
