Benjamin is a seasoned professional with a background in political campaigns, nonprofit management, and business development. In 2019, he successfully managed Delegate Alex Askew’s campaign, contributing to the Democratic party's control of the Commonwealth for the first time in 30 years.

Previously, Benjamin served as Senior Advisor and Campaign Manager for Cheri Beasley, the first African American woman to hold the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. He has a proven track record of assisting diverse candidates, including helping elect the first African American officeholders in various districts and cities.

With experience as the Virginia State Director for Demand Justice and as an Advisor to the Democratic House Leader in North Carolina, Benjamin has been a strong advocate for judicial diversity and civil rights. He currently resides in Raleigh Court with his wife, Sarah, whom he met during high school at the Salem Fair.

Originally from Shawsville, Benjamin holds a B.S. in Professional Communications from Old Dominion University.
