Carrie Blumert
2018 Endorsement
Carrie Blumert is running for Oklahoma County Commissioner, District 1 in the Oklahoma City metro area. Her passion for local criminal justice reform, mental health, and addiction recovery are what pushed her to run office after volunteering with several local campaigns since 2013. Her background includes a master’s degree in Public Health, directing a grassroots community health coalition with the Oklahoma City County Health Department, teaching yoga, and coordinating behavioral therapy for children on the Autism Spectrum. Carrie believes our criminal justice system is a public health issue and reform can begin at the local level with the Oklahoma County Jail and increasing access to diversion and recovery programs for offenders. Her personal experience with family members experiencing mental health and addiction issues has inspired Carrie to be a leader in her community to end stigma and improve our local criminal justice system. Carrie is a Sally’s List endorsed candidate and was recently named to the Oklahoma Gazette’s 40 Under 40 list.
