Spencer Bounds

Spencer is a 24-year-old West Texas native, who is running against a 50-year incumbent former House Speaker who is directly responsible for Texas’ gerrymandered districts, among many other ills. He is running because here, amongst all this oil and gas wealth, 11% of people live in poverty, one-fifth don’t have high school diplomas, and 18% don’t have health insurance – including him. Those numbers are higher in the rural counties – nearly one-quarter in poverty in one county. Spencer believes it is time to focus on public education, voting rights, infrastructure, healthcare, eliminating poverty, and making our economy work for everyone.
