Jared Millican

Jared Millican is running for the Alabama State House of Representatives. He grew up in the Alabama City area of Gadsden and now lives on Noccalula mountain with his wife, Jessica, and his eight year old twins, Colin and Ella. He graduated from Emma Sansom High School – the same high school where his father earned his high school diploma. Jessica and He currently live within walking distance of his parents, brother, and brother, and sister-in-law.

After graduation, He attended Gadsden State Community College and then Jacksonville State University, where he met his wife Jessica. She works to rehabilitate adolescents struggling with drug and alcohol addiction at The Bridge, Inc. Previously, she was employed by the Dekalb County United Givers Fund, where she raised money to support local charities. Jared currently works as an IT professional for National Cash Register (NCR).

Jared is a second-generation member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Alabama. he's served as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Etowah County, and his father and brother have both served on the board of directors. his family has been in Gadsden for generations, and has always believed in this community. his is also an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!) football and have many other hobbies including playing guitar, drawing, painting, and writing.

WHY IS HE RUNNING

Our current representatives haven’t delivered the jobs and economic prosperity that they promised. It’s time for things to change. If we want our community to grow, we need leadership that works for the people, not for special interests.

Politicians and people say that Gadsden is a great place to retire. My wife and I also think this is an even better place to raise a family – but we’re concerned for our future, and for our children’s future. We want the children of our district to grow up with good schools, have good paying jobs, and be proud of their towns. We want the people of our community to have a say in what happens here. If elected, I will have an open door policy and make sure their ideas and concerns are heard.

Five years ago, I never would have thought I’d run for office, but Gadsden is my home and this community is my family. We need things to change if want future generations to have a good life here. We need leaders in Montgomery who will fund education programs and bring jobs back to our district. I want to stand up for our district and make it a great place to live for generations to come.
