Michelle was raised in Saugerties, NY, and is a graduate of The Industrial and Labor Relations School at Cornell University. She’s running to be part of a new generation of leadership and an advocate for Upstate New Yorkers.
Her father, the late Congressman Maurice D. Hinchey, championed working people and the environment, and instilled in her that there’s no higher calling than public service.
Her experience seeing the challenges of our healthcare system, after taking care of her father, showed her that too many people are struggling to access the care they need. She’s experienced friends unable to find good-paying jobs locally, while her retired neighbors struggle to afford to stay in their homes.
Michelle will work to break down the barriers holding too many people back and create opportunities to build a stronger Upstate NY.
