Jackie Leung
2020 Endorsement
Jackie has several years of experience in public service – including serving as a City Councilor in Salem, OR; a member of Marion County’s Healthy Advisory Board and the Pacific Islander Coalition in Multnomah County; a Commissioner on the Oregon Commission of Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs; and an active member on the Oregon Hunger Task Force and the Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee.
Jackie is running for Oregon House District 19 because she wants to ensure that Oregon grows in alignment with the community’s needs. This means focusing on what matters most to in the work Oregonians – harm work families, farmers, and small business owners – do. Jackie believes in making policy decisions that take into consideration the impact it has on vulnerable, marginalized communities, including women, persons of color, the LGBTQ+, and rural communities. Jackie makes decisions based on evidence-based measures, utilizing an informed decision making process. This means community engagement at the local level, meeting the community where they are. As State Representative, Jackie will be making decisions that impact all Oregonians. To fully appreciate how policy making decisions affect the community is to hear from Oregonians who would be impacted the greatest. This requires building trust, starting a relationship, and building it from the ground up, to ensure that the community’s concerns are recognized.
